My name is Arian Kriesch. I was born in 1983 in the small university town of Erlangen in northern Bavaria in Germany. I spent most of my childhood and most of my youth in Cologne and came back to Bavaria to get my final school examinations (abitur) and to start studying physics and a bit of philosophy at the University of Erlangen, spending some time at the University of York. Currently I am working as a research scientist at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light towards a Ph.D. in physics.
Besides I am very much interested in politics, philosophy, particularly political philosophy and ethics, in music, particularly playing the clarinet and singing in the choir, in literature, Chinese language and culture and cooking. My interest in politics is the reason why I started being an active member of the German liberal party FDP and its youth organization in 2000.
