My name is Arian Kriesch. I live in Aalen, a middle town in southern Germany, working as innovation manager for a technology and machinery corporation.
Before that I lived in Erlangen, working as a research scientist at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light towards a Ph.D. in physics. During that time I was a visiting scientist at Caltech, Pasadena. I studied physics and some philosophy at the University of Erlangen and the University of York.
In my spare time I am very much interested in politics, philosophy, particularly political philosophy and ethics, in music, particularly playing the clarinet and singing in the choir, in literature, Chinese language and culture and cooking. My interest in politics is the reason why I started being an active member of the German liberal party FDP and its youth organization in 2000.
